Looply Authentication
Bag authentication, in detail
A closer look at the materials, construction, markings, and condition checks behind each bag.
Bags
We examine the materials and construction, then look closely at the markings, print, and hardware. Wear and previous repairs are recorded separately.
Magnified inspection
Stitching & construction
Stamped markings
Markings, print & hardware
01
Brand stamps under magnification
We examine letter shapes, the registered trademark symbol, spacing, alignment, and the depth of the impression. The size and placement of small details are checked against references for the piece’s design and production period.
02
Printed patterns & surface texture
We inspect the arrangement, spacing, and shape of printed dots, along with the material’s texture and how the print appears on the surface. These details are assessed for the specific material and pattern.
03
Hardware finish & engraving
We examine contours, plating, attachment, and engraved markings. The shape of individual letters and the precision of the engraving are considered alongside the hardware’s construction and finish.
The print, up close
In this example, six printed dots surround a central dot in a hexagonal arrangement. The counterfeit reference has a different arrangement. This pattern is one feature of the pictured material, assessed together with the bag’s other details.
Authentic reference
Counterfeit reference
Lettering & finish
These examples show differences in the hardware’s contours, surface finish, and engraved lettering, including the shape of the letter L. The relevant details depend on the design being examined.

Construction, condition & previous work
Seams, thread & restitching
We inspect seams, leather attachments, and edge construction. Thread type and stitching are compared with the expected workmanship, with attention to replaced thread or later restitching.
Color touch-ups & redyeing
We examine color consistency and look for signs of later touch-ups or changes to the original color. Any alterations we identify are disclosed with the item’s condition details.
Edge paint & repairs
We check for reapplied edge paint and examine the finish and condition of repairs we identify. Repair work is assessed separately from the authentication decision.
Wear, replacement parts & accessories
We document wear on the corners, edges, and straps, as well as changes in the hardware’s finish. We look for replaced parts, check the included accessories, and record what comes with the bag.
